My husband used this opticians following a previous good service. He persuaded me to change to them when my next appointment is due in December, however I have now decided against it for the following reasons.
My husband has made 6 journeys to this store and back due to their incompetence.
It has taken approximately 13 weeks to get to this point and he still doesn't have any glasses.
The glasses were returned and replaced and returned again.
On the second return the assistant got rather stroppy.
My husband paid over £250.00 for the glasses.
The store did not offer any compensatory fuel costs.
The store failed to keep him updated and he had to chase them for information.
The store has yet to offer an apology to my husband for totally wasting his time throughout the past 3 months.
The staff damaged the glasses by incorrect removal of manufacturers markings on the lenses.
I don't want that kind of customer service thanks very much!

Until this morning, when I received a refund, I was not going to leave a review.
This is why I reconsidered.
I received a refund receipt on a generic complement slip. No apology for wasting time, or the inconvenience, no compensation to cover the costs of me having to return to the store on 6 occasions, not even a thank you for your custom.
It had taken almost 3 months to get to this outcome. I experienced waiting for over 5 weeks for a pair of safety glasses. I didn't receive any courtesy calls. I had to call them for updates! When the glasses finally arrived, I had to return them the following day, as the in store attempt to remove the manufacturing coatings from the lenses, using 4 different methods and 2 staff members, resulted in scouring and residue.
I was offered a replacement or refund and choose the latter. Again, 6 wks. had passed and I had no glasses. Again, I didn't receive courtesy calls. And again, I had to call for an update. After several calls, I was eventually told that the glasses had gone to a different branch, but I would receive them the next day.
Those too had to be returned for the same reason as before. Because the branch has recently installed bright lighting inside the store, the staff were unable to see the scouring. Nevertheless, I left without the glasses.
Having been advised that I would need to get used to wearing varifocals, it would be good practice to use them for all occasions, particularly when driving and watching TV. When I returned the second pair and suggested that I experienced glare, I was then advised that I shouldn't be wearing them for either activity and that I should have expected to experience glare. REALLY!
Almost two weeks later, I had to call them for an update. I was advised that I would be receiving a refund.
Thank you Scrivens, for sitting on that information and for wasting a little more of my time that I could have used to order another pair.

I needed my hearing aid checked. Staff easily identified problem and repaired it. Also given spares in case problem returned.

So pleased with the service I recently received on my visit to the Bishop Auckland Branch the staff were all extremely helpful and everything was fully explained to me. This was my first visit to Scrivens there kindly got me a appointment very quickly as I was experiencing severe headaches and was a big concern to me there really put my worried mind at ease and thank the lovely ladies for this it was the first visit but definitely not the last thank you all
